Raleigh Day School offers a developmentally appropriate, experiential approach to education. We integrate the arts and academics in our Early Childhood and Grades programs. The aim is to inspire life-long learning in each student and enable them to fully develop their unique capacities. Our faculty are dedicated to creating within each student a genuine inner enthusiasm for learning that is essential for educational success.

Our Early Childhood curriculum builds capacities within each child for language, problem solving, creativity, and concentration. Through exposure to stories, songs, movement exercises, art and handwork, students develop the cognitive and motor skills they need to transition into the academics of first grade.

Academic subjects are presented imaginatively to engage the students physically, cognitively and emotionally. Equally important to cognitive development is social development.
Meet with Dr. Lucy Chartier, Administrative Director, for a tour of our school and a brief presentation about our program. We currently offer in-person tours on Fridays. Tours via Zoom are available for those unable to come in-person. We look forward to meeting with you!
"RDS is dedicated to providing a genuine Waldorf education. Children receive significant outdoor free time in nearly all weather, abundant arts, song, handwork, music, cursive handwriting, and morning lessons in mathematics, language arts, and social studies. Raleigh is fortunate to have this unique school."

The film "Learn to Change the World" shows people from around the world who work on the big pedagogical tasks of our time based on Waldorf/Steiner pedagogy. It is the first of more to come which aim to show concrete approaches to these tasks.
After the great success of part 1 of our film "Learn to Change the World", the second part deals with encounter, engagement, and inclusion: learning that goes beyond merely accumulating information can be understood as in individual way to seek the truth.
"Becoming" is the third in a series of short films produced on the occasion of the centenary of Waldorf Education under the direction of award-winning Californian documentary filmmaker Paul Zehrer.
